How To Take Care Of Pool Liners

By Eliza Mendoza

You might notice the lining of your swimming pool to eventually wear after an extended use. Other times, its protective covering may sag and come off the track. Regardless of the present status of your pool liners OH, you have to maintain its condition to ensure the puddle's quality. Whether you have to install a new liner, fix the damaged one or replace it entirely, the following pointers can be helpful.

It goes without saying that you have to identify the real problem first. It would be impossible to come up with a resolution without knowing the real issue at hand. A sagging liner may only need a little stretching and repositioning, but a damaged liner will require complete overhaul. You may use patches to cover holes and punctures on the lining. Otherwise, you may have to replace it.

If the bead has fallen off the track, repositioning is all you need. This problem is common when the lining used is shorter than the actual floorspace. Before adjusting its position, you will need to stretch the materials. You can use the blow dryer for this purpose. Just remember not to focus on one area too much because the heat can melt or burn the materials.

If the lining starts to leak, you will have to look for the culprit. Locate the opening for patching. This task may be quite tricky though, especially with holes too tiny to be detected. Until you have located the hole, you cannot possibly resolve the problem. Hence, if you are unable to find the gap after exhaustive effort, the only viable option for you is to replace the lining.

Now that you have identified the areas that require patching, you can start your work. A wet patch can be used for fixing the linings underwater. A regular patch would suffice for surface problems. The materials you will be needing for this purpose are available in any hardware depot, pool servicing shops and specialty stores.

When fixing the pool lining, there are important considerations you must remember. Apparently, you must protect the safety of your family members. Nobody must use the puddle while it is being repaired. Keep everyone in a safe distance as you do the job, too. Not only does it imperil your family, it can also cause unnecessary delays.

Drain off the water until it is only a couple feet deep. This way, you will not encounter issues accessing and repositioning the liners. Clean the area of any debris, too. Remove the pebbles, toys, fallen leaves and everything else on the puddle. You need an unobstructed view of the liners to determine the areas that need repair, replacement or patching.

After putting the liners back in place, installing a liner lock is highly advisable. This will prevent the linings from falling out of the track in the future. Not only does this save you from a lot of work, this can also help preserve the quality of your swimming pools.

The professionals are definitely adept at maintaining your pool liners OH. However, you can save on costs if you do the job by yourself. When the issue is simple enough for your ability, you can definitely do things on your own. Just make sure that you consider all the important aspects. Do the job right so as not to spend even more in the end.
